What an odd way to wake up

Oddly enough, the first thing that popped into my mind this morning when I woke up was this phrase: “There’s a spider on me!”
Weird huh? I woke up to Dylan standing next to our bed (Josh had already left for work) and he was saying something that I couldn’t understand - partly due to his developing toddler dialect, but mostly due to the fact that I am always incoherent and confused for the first few seconds after I wake up in the morning. Anyway, I could tell he was upset nonetheless. I was lying on my right side with my arm underneath the pillow. I shot up in bed and looked down on my right shoulder and there it was - an icky little brown spider just chillaxin’ in one of the folds of my nightshirt!!!. I FREAKED out. I tried to flip him out of my shirt onto the floor or anywhere for that matter, but he wasn’t going anywhere, and he started to crawl rather quickly up toward my face. OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG, I was panicking at this point so I just tore my shirt off and ran out of the bedroom. The hair on my arms were standing up and it felt like I had spiders and every other little creepy-crawly known to man crawling all over my body. It sucked.
Later, I went back in the bedroom, found the spider under my shirt where I last saw him, and killed it. I googled the different types of little brown spiders and I believe that the spider that had been resting on my shoulder for God knows how long during the night was a brown recluse. It looked exactly like this, and I know that because I made sure to observe it’s size, color, and markings before I killed it.
It gives me chills even thinking about it now *shudder*. It’s weird because I’m not even scared of spiders all that much…if they don’t bother me then I won’t bother them. But just the thought that this thing could’ve been crawling all over me while I was asleep and could’ve bitten me or anything else…eeek! Honestly, I don’t know how I didn’t manage to get bitten. I toss and turn and change positions all throughout the time I’m asleep. Just ew. The covers and pillows are definitely getting shaken out tonight before I even think about laying down. :dead:
Today is Josh’s 23rd birthday! Man he’s getting so old…:P (I only say that because I know he will read this). :P I’m going to fix him one of his favorite meals for dinner and then some major sexing will more than likely be taking place. *hump* However, some of the time I’ll have to be on the lookout for approaching spiders! :P

OMG A brown recluse?! UGH UGH UGH!
That’s so freaky! It better be the only one. Effers. I’m glad you didn’t get bitten, goodness.
ETA - Congrats on your hundredth blog post!!
I have had tons of brown recluse spiders in my apartment. They start out tiny, but they can get big as I’m sure you’ve seen in photos. I actually had to catch them and keep them in my freezer so I could prove to the apartment manager that they were indeed brown recluse spiders and not something else.
I hate spiders or any bugs crawling on me. Yuck yuck yuck! I would have freaked out too. Brown recluse spiders can bite and if the bite is untreated, bad things can happen! I worried about this a lot too. I started getting these little red dots all over me that itched. Turned out, I actually had broken out into hives and they weren’t spider bites. If I was you, I’d get some of those sticky spider traps to catch those little suckers.
What a way to start your day. :P
Hey Girly, spider bites suck…I’m glad you didn’t get bitten or anything. There are all kinds of spiders in my room at my dad’s house so I don’t really stay there anymore. lol.
Tell Josh I said happy birthday. My mom’s birthday was today also. Take care and I’ll talk to you later. Hope your night is great. love ya girl!
The freaking spiders are hell. I got bit by one. I then got MRSA so the sore never went away. Still got it after2 years. You are so lucky no one got bit. They come out when there is construction going on out here where I live. And happy birthday to your hubby. I felt so old at 23.
Wow, that picture gave me a lil scare. When I clicked it, I was expecting a small picture (because spiders are small..) and bam! A huge spider on the screen. I would’ve definitely freaked out worse than you if that had happened to me. I get a lil overdramatic sometimes! :P
LMAO! I always find it amusing how people get freaked by spiders. hehe. Of course, I’m the same way with centipedes and any other million legged creature. Now those things are creepy!
I am not scared of spiders but I don’t want to find one in front of me when I wake up
hope you are ok after all!
I am one of the worst people when it comes to being totally scared of spiders… they just…. ahh I don’t know… cause me so much panic and…eeeeek I really really don’t like them…
Wish I hadn’t looked at the picture you posted… meep!
I generally end up killing spiders as an automatic response to seeing one. I’m so cruel :(
ahahah! this reminds me of the spider stories on my blog! have you read them? you’ll crack up. let’s just say i know exactly how you feel…
“Brown recluse spiders usually live in dense clusters. Usually where one is found, there will be more.”
 I suggest checking REALLY carefully about spiders tonight.
A similar thing happened to me when I was a child and now I’m scared to death of spiders :( They’re icky and gross!
OMG, that would have been sooo scary! I cannot stand spiders, though I am usually npt exactly panicking over them (but then again, there’s nothing that can actually make me panic).
I just dropped by to announce that RIGHT NOW I am in Kentucky and I love the heat and the people and my friends and host family and Wal-mart and the swimming pool and fried chicken and football and cornhole and cook-outs. :D You live in a very awesome state (in case you hadn’t known, haha). I will comment more regularely as I get back home…
Happy Birthday to Josh!
Spiders don’t creep me out unless the are crawling near me or on me. That just gives me the creeps thinking about it.
Happy birthday to Josh.
Wow. That’s almost as creepy as the poison snakes magically appearing in people’s waterbeds in the complex I live in. I think the management has something to do with that, though. =)
Urgh that spider is horrible! I’m the same, I’m not that bothered by spiders either, but if I found that crwaling up my shirt in the morning I’d scream the house down!
I would have reacted the same, exact way had I woken up with a spider on me. And by the same way, I mean stripping and running out of the room. I’m not good with bugs, even ants give me the heebie jeebies.
Eek. What a horrible way to start your day! I hate hate HATE spiders… the only ones I can tolerate are daddy long legs, mostly because they’re almost cute with their long legs, and they’re harmless.
And ah, toddler speak. I know it well. I’m always having to translate for Dan, because he can’t seem to figure out what Alyssa is saying! I’m just waiting for Ryan to start babbling, and they’ll both be speaking in their secret toddler babble language. Fun..
And happy 23rd to Josh! :)
OMG spiders really scare me. Ahh. I probably would’ve died… especially waking up to that, eww. Happy birthday to Josh!
 Urghh what a horrible thing to happen first thing in the morning, I would have freaked out the same :dead:
spiders freak me out. i hate it how environmentalists say you shouldn’t kill spiders.
Ewww is right. I would have probably died from fright. Yuck.
ewww i hate buggs! I love your layout thought!
