One busy girl

Almost nine whole days without blogging?! That’s so unlike me! *slap*
Well, I’ve been one busy girl lately. It seems like I haven’t had hardly any time to turn around due to my work schedule. It’s been going really good, but I’ve really been needing some ‘me’ time for a while. We have a family day planned today, and I have tomorrow off as well, but I’m going to be working practically the whole weekend.
I enjoy it, but I had no idea how easily it is to get injured whilst in a kitchen. Sure, there’s always the chance of getting cut and burned in the middle of getting bum rushed by customers, but one would think those chances wouldn’t be as high when you’re really not doing anything in a hurry at all. Over this past week my hands and fingers have really gotten a beating. While cleaning out an oven the other day, I nicked the very tip of the ring finger on my right hand, and it hurtssssssssss like hell. I didn’t even realize it at the time, but the next day it was so painful. To top it all of, yesterday I was cooking a cheeseburger on the flat grill and accidentally touched the very tip of the index finger on my left hand to the grill. I had no idea that such a tiny burn could send excruciating chills up and down the body, and pretty much render the finger useless for the rest of the day. It was awful. :( It’s easy to take advantage of all the things you do with your hands every day of your life, but as soon as something happens to your arm, hand, or even the tiniest nicks and burns on your fingers you really start to notice how much you really need them! I’ll have to be more careful next time, but it’s a necessary evil when you work in a kitchen - burns and other injuries are pretty much inevitable.
As mentioned earlier, we have a family day planned today - meaning we aren’t going to do shit besides go out and have fun - just the three of us. The plans originally consisted of going out to dinner and then catching a family friendly movie later on tonight, but after checking what’s playing a few minutes ago I found that the movie we reeeeeeeally want to see (Surf’s Up) is no longer playing. :( Pfft! There’s really nothing else playing that we want to see, so I don’t know what we’ll end up doing.
Speaking of movies, am I the only one not even remotely excited about Harry Potter 5? The media is making such a huge deal about the ‘newest installment’ of both the book AND the movie, and frankly I couldn’t care less. In fact, I’m tired of hearing about it every time I turn around. I get that people really like the books and movies and stuff, but come on. Is it really necessary to advertise it 24/7 on every channel and website known to man? Like it needs advertising? After the release of the first 3 or 4 movies, it only makes sense that people will flock to their nearest movie theater to see the next one…and the next one…and even the next one. Not a whole lot of advertising is necessary, and it would keep people like me from being pushed even further away from picking up a Harry Potter book or DVD. *sigh*
Last night while watching Kipper with Dylan on PBS Sprout, I noticed something a little disturbing (and admittedly hilarious!) about this particular episode. And, using the magic of our DVR, I snapped some pictures of the perpetrators in action:

Now, if that doesn’t look perverted, I don’t know what does! Usually, I’m not one to notice things like this, but we (Josh and I) couldn’t help but notice that and the way it looks. Of course, I don’t actually think that it was intended or anything, but it’s funny anyway.

Hey Kristie, sorry to hear about you cutting your finger and burning your other one, that sucks. The pics are really funny. I hope you all had a great family day. Take care Love ya
I am very clumsy myself and I manage to hurt myself anywhere and everywhere :dead: Hope your finger gets well soon.
I went to watch HP5 because there were no other better movies to watch at the time. My friends and I bought the tickets 1 hour early and we were sitting at the very side of the largest theatre!
That image certainly looks dodgy. I showed them to my friend and he responded with:
LOLWTF
HAHAHAHA
so
why are u looking at cartoon pron
Oops, sorry to hear about your fingers. I understand the uncomfortableness as I have already experienced it
I hope you and your family will find out what to do at the end of the family day and have a great time.
I haven’t watched HP5 yet, but I kinda disappoint as several people told me that the movie was not completely the same with the book. Anyway I’m going to enjoy it
And the 2 pictures are so dodgy LOL
I hope your finger feels better! Those photos are funny!!
Ouch, hope your finger feels better. I’ve burnt myself once by the iron and it hurt like anything. Lmao, those pictures do look quite disturbing, still had laugh though.
Yehh I get tired of hearing about Harry Potter too. I’m not into it… never was…. Those pictures are funny but crazy.. can’t believe they put that on a childrens station lol
omg roflllll
those screencaps from kipper are absolutely hilarious
what are they letting children today watch? lol
Fast food work is surprisingly dangerous! I still bear a few scars from various encounters with hot oil, hot fry baskets, parts of the broiler, and other incidents.
We watch Kipper a lot… and yes, those photos are dirty! ;)
9 days? Haha, have you tried three months? :P If you blog less than every nine days, I personally think you’re doing a super job! Haha.
Wow, so many injuries. Just don’t die, lol!
I believe that working anywhere, you
can get injured one way or another (:
just be more careful yeah? ^^
hope your family day was fun ;D
Hey there! Hmm, I’m sorry that you have been working a lot. It does get stressful after a bit. I remember when I worked for like a week or two in a row I definitely needed some Cassie time, haha. It sounds like your going to have a fun time with your family :] And your right, that does look perverted! Anyways, take care!
omigod. that does look *very* perverted. hahahahhaa.
When you’re busy, it’s amazing how quickly time passes. It never seems as long as it’s really been. Sometimes I go a few weeks without blogging, but it seems like I JUST blogged yesterday.
I know what you mean about the hands. When I used to work at Kodak, my fingers were so ugly from all the cuts I got from the machines, and my nails were a mess. I guess it comes with the job.
Hope your family day was fun :) What’d you guys end up doing?
LOL @ those pix. My mind is definately travelling there. hehe. It’s funny how sick our minds can be, when it’s really so innocent ;)
Not a Harry Potter (or as I refer to him, Harry Pothead) fan. I never understood the hype - but those type of movies have never really been my thing.
I have to admit that I have seen HP 5 and I am also reading the newest book, but this does not mean I am over and over committed to it. it is just a book not more.
The worst part about burning or injuring your fingertips is that they’re loaded with nerve endings, and thus injuries there hurt way more than injuries sustained elsewhere on the body.
Where are yooouuu??? :D Busy, I guess - we do miss you around here, though. Hehe.
That cartoon is really funny, and awful if you think about it. But then again, kids wouldn’t think about it that way, so… you know, it’s all good. ;)
