I can’t believe September is almost over. While browsing around PinkForOctober.org I realized that October 1st is only a few days away! After I’m finished with this post, I will begin working on October’s theme - covered in PINK in honor of breast cancer awareness month. Think I can have it all finished by the 1st? I guess we’ll find out! :P
I finally got around to buying some data discs while out shopping yesterday. I’ve been meaning to make backups of everything important on our computer, but I’ve kept putting it off. Josh transferred all of our photos onto a disc yesterday, and it makes me feel so much better to have them on something tangible…something that I’ll have, even if the computer crashes or something screws up my photos. The next thing I plan on doing (probably here in a few minutes, actually) is back up my wordpress database. While I’m at it, I’ll probably go ahead and upgrade to the newest version as well. I will feel so much better when I have that on a disc also! :)
As far as offline life goes, nothing much has happened lately. Unless you count a couple of my unmentionable redneck relatives, who were visiting my grandmother on her birthday and stole some of her prescription pain medication behind her back. Twats. I’d rather not be associated with them at all, and quite frankly, I’m ashamed of that side of the family…just because of how they are. They’re all drunks, thieves, and pill-poppers that have nothing better to do with their time than raid through my 83 year old grandmother’s prescription medication and steal pills from her. Good Lord. As far as I’m concerned, they can just go back down to the Florida swamps where they originated from, and keep all their drama down there.
There are times when I seriously believe that our house is haunted. I know that sounds crazy, but there are some things that happen occasionally in our home that really freak me out and make me want to sleep with one eye open. This morning I was in the shower; it was right after Josh left for work. As usual, Dylan went in there with me, so I could keep an eye on him. So, there I was washing my hair, my mind wandering…what I planned to do today, what to fix for dinner, etc. After I washed my face and opened my eyes, I noticed Dylan was standing by the tub, just staring at me. I pulled the shower curtain back a little more and asked him, “What’s wrong, baby?” He didn’t speak for about 20 seconds or so, and finally he replied with “Mommy, that scared me”. Naturally, I asked him what scared him. He just pointed to the bathroom door, which was closed. I looked, thinking it could’ve been a spider or something, but I didn’t see anything. I asked him again. He just kept pointing and staring at the door.
I was getting a little creeped out, but tried to brush it off and continue quickly with my shower so I could get out. He proceeded to try to get into the tub with me - with all of his clothes on. By that time, I was really afraid - maybe not of anything paranormal, but when you’re all alone in a house, in the shower, with a child that’s acting weird, your mind can wander and think of all sorts of scary things. One time I thought that someone might be in the house, hiding. Fortunately, after a thorough inspection of the house, I found nothing out of the ordinary, and Dylan was back to normal - playing and watching cartoons. Despite everything though, it’s been on my mind all day.
So, how do you feel about the paranormal? Do you believe in ghosts/wandering spirits/apparitions? What about the belief that small children and animals can sense spirits when no one else can? Do you think it’s a bunch of nonsense, and feel that every creepy noise and/or ghostly sighting can be scientifically explained? I’d like to know. Also, if any of you have had paranormal experiences, I would love for you to share your stories. :)
