What a let down

Last night, I found out that there was a possibility that I could get a few more hours a week at work. I was happy about this because hey, who doesn’t need extra money? But, today I found out that the boss changed his mind. Boo. BOO! :( I’m sure other opportunities like this will come up again, but it was just disappointing at the time. Ah well.

Speaking of work, it’s really doing a number on my hands and fingers. My fingers almost always have some kind of cut, scrape, or lesion, and my hands are beginning to show signs of getting extremely dry and sometimes the skin cracks - basically, it just hurts like hell. I guess this would be a textbook definition of the term: ‘dishpan hands’. Lovely. I’ve even had to temporarily remove my wedding ring (I hate not wearing it!) because the skin underneath it is extremely red, rash-like, dry, and swollen. I’m guessing it has something to do with the ridge underneath the ring, having the ability to trap excess soap, water, and cleaning agents in it, thus the eating away of my finger. Gross! Hopefully, just letting it get some air will help it to heal quicker, so I can put my ring back on. I’ll try to refrain from scratching it (it itches something terrible) - obviously, that wouldn’t help anything.
