This and that

It’s been a few days since I’ve blogged. Our computer mouse finally died yesterday morning. I don’t know what happened, I was surfing the web when it just stopped working. I changed the batteries (it’s a wireless optical), but to no avail. Finally, the red light dimmed, then faded out completely. I checked for a pulse, but it was too late. :P We had it for eight months - in which time it was a good little piece of hardware. I grieved, and then a quick trip to Circuit City made everything better. You don’t have to say it, I know I’m a geek.
I finally broke down today and had Dylan try on some of his old outfits from last fall/winter. As expected, hardly anything fits - except for a couple of pairs of jeans and a few shirts. So, next week sometime I’ll have to buy him some new outfits. Pants, shirts, socks, shoes, a winter hat, gloves and jacket…the whole nine yards. It’s amazing to me how quickly children grow, and the clothes they can go through in a year - or even six months for that matter. That’s why I kinda have to laugh at those parents who insist on buying their babies/toddlers expensive, designer clothing. We all want the best for our children - I get that. But it seems silly to me to shell out the dough for a designer name when you know it’s going to go through hell in the small amount of time the kid is able to fit into it. All the poop, pee, vomit, food, dirt, and countless other substances kinda ruins that $50 pair of pants, doesn’t it? I say, let them wear the cheap (but still good quality!) stuff now, while they’re young, and save your money for when they’re teenagers - when the designer name really matters to them! :P But that’s just my opinion. Just because something is expensive doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best.
I was in the mood to try a new recipe today, so I looked up my recipe for fresh tomato
salsa (pictured right). You can check out my Flickr for more pictures, but I can go ahead and tell you that it is friggin’ delicious. Very spicy. They serve something similar to this at our favorite Mexican restaurant, but I’ve never thought to ask them how it’s made. I love spicy food, in case you haven’t figured it out yet. :P To go with this, I also made some guacamole, which is also good - and good for you, I hear. It’s always good to incorporate more fruits & vegetables in your diet, especially since Josh and I are on a new weight loss venture. More on that later.
As I’m sitting here typing this, I just happened to look over and notice that my pretty little pink iPod is over here collecting dust. I haven’t thought a song worthy enough to put on it in months. :P So, what I need from you, dear readers, are some kick ass song suggestions! What songs do you rock out to most often? I listen to a little bit of everything, so any and all suggestions will be considered! :D Who are your favorite artists/bands? What are your favorite genres? Let me know!
Anyhoo, enough of this inane rambling. I’m off to eat dinner and watch some Lifetime…or maybe COURTtv.

i agree, i dont get my daughter expensive clothes either, because she’ll grow out of them soo quickly.
lucky you, you have a pink ipod. my is plain white lol
omg that looks so good. making me hungry!
I finally replaced my desktop’s mouse last week. It was going through batteries weekly! I found that insane, especially considering I could use my laptop mouse day in and day out, for months on end, before I would have to replace the battery. It’s so nice to have a spiffy new mouse (and keyboard, since the entire wireless set was only $10 more than the wireless mouse by itself).
I went through Alyssa’s clothes with her a few weeks back, and was very pleasantly surprised to find that she only needed a few new pairs of pants. Whoo hoo!
And I wholeheartedly agree about what a waste expensive, designer toddler clothes are. Of course, the loss of others is sometimes my gain, since I’ll sometimes check out a local consignment boutique and find some great, expensive pants that probably cost the original purchaser around $30, but only cost me $5. :)
I got a Logitech mouse for about 2 euros at a market. I’ve used it for over a year, so it was pretty good, except one button sort of broke. I hope your new mouse works just as fine as the old one, before it broke, or even better ;)
I don’t understand why some parents buy such expensive clothes for their children, especially when they’re still a baby. It’s not worth it, and when something’s cheaper it doesn’t mean it’s bad quality. I think those people only do it to show off, or something. I can’t think of a different reason. Or maybe they just have too much money. But if they do, why don’t they donate it to a good cause?
