Reorganizing: Part 1

As I mentioned in the previous post, Dylan’s bedroom is the room that’s lucky enough to be graced by my pathetic organizing skills first. This morning after breakfast, I went in. That’s right. With practically no knowledge of how I was going to do things, or where I was going to end up putting it all, I went into the lion’s den and began to tame it. First and foremost came the dresser and all it’s contents. I made a circular clearing in the middle of the ocean of toys and prepared to sit down and go through each and every single piece of clothing he had. On one side of me was the pile to donate, on the other side of me was the pile to be trashed. It took nearly two hours, but I did it. And it felt good. I know it’s just the tip of the iceberg, but just getting in there and starting on it has made all the difference in my attitude about it. As hard as it is to part with some of Dylan’s old clothes (memories attached to those suckers, ya know), I know that there’s other little boys out there that could use them more. They’d get a lot more use being donated than they would just sitting in a dresser drawer, crammed up in the back virtually forgotten about. So, it hasn’t been that bad.

They’ve been washed and dried (the dryer just went off, actually), so in a few minutes I’m going to get them out, fold them, and bag them up. Remember the ocean of toys I mentioned? Yeah, gotta start on those next. Oy. I have no idea how I’m going to go about that…there are soooooooo many toys to be put back together (FYI: a toddler’s favorite kind of toy is the kind that has eleventy billion pieces that can be easily scattered) before the night’s over. It’s daunting, to say the least, but it has to get done! :blank:

Anyway, I guess I’ve blogged enough for today. Break time’s over. Gotta get back to work. Again, wish me luck.
