Time to play catch up

Oh em eff gee…boy, has it been one HELL of a week. It all started last Tuesday, which started out being a really good day. Then, at around 8 pm, as Josh was pulling in our driveway, he ran over a deep hole which caused all of the interior lights to flash on and off all crazy-like. He pulled up to the house, switched the car off, attempted to start it up again and…nothing. There wasn’t a sound, there wasn’t a light…there was nothing. We stayed out until 10 pm wrapped up in our jackets toting flashlights until we finally just gave up on fixing it for the night. The next day, we called a towing company to come and get it. Great. In the meantime, while our car was in the shop, Josh had to borrow his step-mother’s car just to get to and from work.
A couple of days after that, one of the cooks at the restaurant where I work quit, leaving me and another co-worker to pick up the slack. I burned my hand in the toaster that same day, and developed a rash on the backs of my hands (dry winter skin? Probably). The next day, I woke up with excruciating neck and shoulder pain - instead of sleeping like a baby, apparently, I slept like a contortionist. Whatever. I had this pain at work last Friday night, and it still lingered uncomfortably through the following Saturday. Saturday night, Dylan and I came down with a cold. On Sunday, Josh came down with the same symptoms. Thankfully, things began getting a little better after that.
Until yesterday. Yesterday was the day we decided to finish up Dylan’s Christmas shopping. We went to Toys ‘R Us, thinking that it wouldn’t be as insanely crowded as, say, Wal-Mart or the Mall. It was a mad house! I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many overzealous people shopping in one place. It was packed, it was hot, I was uncomfortable…it wasn’t a good day. We got his gifts and got the hell out of there. Our car also got fixed yesterday, after being in the shop for a week. That should have made things a little better, if it weren’t for how much it cost us to get it repaired. The computer chip in it, or the “brain box” as I’ve heard some people refer to it, went out and had to be replaced. A brand new one for our make and model car can cost $500+. Luckily, they cut us a break and found us a used one for half that. All was fine and dandy again, until today when Josh was driving to work. All of the lights came on again for no reason, just like they did the night that it broke down. Thankfully, they went off and the car hasn’t been acting funny since. So, most of the money we had saved for Christmas went to fixing the car and I’m hoping that this will be the end of our car problems for a while. Merry effing Christmas.
So, that’s what’s been going on with us, and why I haven’t blogged in forever and twelve years. However, it’s not all bad, I did get an early Christmas gift out of it. A super awesome Nintendo DS from my super awesome sexy husband. I’ve wanted one of these for so long! *drool*
So, those of you with DS’s, what are some of your favorite games? I’ve been playing Super Mario Brothers like crazy, and it’s so much fun, but soon I’m going to want a little variety.

[...] Check it out! While looking through the blogosphere we stumbled on an interesting post today. Here’s a quick excerpt Oh em eff gee…boy, has it been one HELL of a week. OMG, every layout you make I love more and more. But anyway…
Sorry to hear about your car as well as your extra stress at work. That sucks, especially around the holidays, I’m sure. As for your DS, that is awesome. My favorite game at the moment that I’m playing is Final Fantasy III. I don’t know if you like RPGs but it’s really good. Also, I hear that Animal Crossing is super awesome too… especially if you play it over WiFi. :)
What a cute DS! I want one (but have no use for it, so not really)! No game suggestions. Toys R Us is crazy at this time of year. Everywhere is crazy at this time of year, though. Hope your car is easy and cheap to fix up!
Aw Kristie, I’m sorry you had such a rough week. It sure doesn’t sound like fun. :P But yay, how awesome that your husband gave you the DS! I don’t have one, though, and so no game suggestions from me.
My week hasn’t been so awesome either, ‘only’ domain-wise, though. OA.org just disappeared and I don’t know where it went or what happened to it but I registered a new domain right away, so please change my link from oceansaway.org to highwaybynight.com if you have some time. Thanks!
I hope the next week’ll be better and more peaceful for you guys!
Also, those new pictures of you are really cute. I remember you once said that I’m good at noticing those little changes whenever you put up a new layout, so here goes: the new pictures are beautiful! Hehe. Oh, by the way, GREAT NEW LAYOUT! LOL I looove the colors, they are so what I wanted my winter/Christmas-y theme to look like but yeah… turned out quite differently. Anyway, great job - it’s so easy and pleasant on the eyes! :)
Sorry you had such a bad week! Love the new layout. I’m going to have a new one up soon, after the new years :)
Anyhow. You should add me to myspace. fl_nc_babe is my name on there.
I’m sorry to hear about all the car problems, it always seems to happen that car issues and expensive things pop up at the WORST possible time. I feel your pain on shopping, I DESPISE the crowds. Ugh.
I love to send Christmas Cards, it’s my second year! eheh… Thx for adding me to your blogroll! I’ll add you too! Have a nice weekend! ♥
Congrats on getting the nintendo DS. Sorry to hear about all of the bad luck you have been having. It’s kind of been the same around here. haha. ‘Tis the season though.
P.S: I added you to my blogroll as well, and thanks :)
I love my DS. I mostly play MArioKart.. sometimes Nintendogs, or tetris. We had maro bros 64 but.. the controls suck SO bad. I hate it.
Oh my gosh. That must have been one hell of a hole! I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that before.. Maybe it knocked some of the electrical wiring loose? I hope you all don’t have anymore problems with it! It’s a bad time of year to have to spend money on car stuff.. My husband’s truck broke down in the interstate on the way to work last week.. we have decided it’s time to get a new vehicle.. and it will have to be before the end of the year. *sighs*
Cute layout!
I wish they had that color DS when I got mine. I have a pink one, but if they would’ve had the red when I bought it I would have a red. I suggest Animal Crossing: Wild World. Very addicting!
