It’s Kristie

I came into this world on a cool morning in March, weighing in at a severely premature (in the 80’s) 3 lbs. 14oz. That was 20 years ago. I was brought up in a loving home, with two doting parents, and an older brother. My parents are still married (31 years and counting) and my brother and I get along great (despite being 6 years apart in age).

My childhood was ideal. My mom and dad were always there for us, and we never went without anything that we needed…to my knowledge at least. My dad worked in a tire manufacturing plant for 30 years of his life, and was finally able to retire 2 years ago. My mom drove a school bus for about 15 years, and she also got to retire around the same time my dad did. Since then, they’ve been your typical storybook grandparents to my son and my niece. My dad is usually out in his workshop fixing something (or trying to fix something) or sprucing up the car, while my mom is usually inside cooking a marvelous meal, cross-stitching a quilt top, or baking a batch of ooey-gooey cookies…I honestly couldn’t love them any more, as they are two of the most wonderful people that I know.

My husband, Josh, and I got married in February of 2004, and though we have had our share of trials and tribulations, we’ve always managed to make it through the rough spots and move on. We have a beautiful 3 1/2 year old son named Dylan, and he’s the light of our lives. We’re just a young couple trying to make it in this world, one day at a time.

Hobbies

My number one most favorite hobby of all time is, of course, web design. I find it relaxing to open up PSP and let the creative juices (or sometimes lack thereof) flow. Coming in at a close second is blogging. I’ve met some wonderful people through this website, and I hope to keep meeting more.

I also enjoy photography (purely recreational), even though I’m not that good at it. I mostly take pictures of random things at random times. My son is my muse, since he’s the person I am around the most, and he has proven to be a good little model for when Mommy is in the mood to fiddle with the camera…did I mention anywhere above yet that I’m a complete dork? Yeah, well I think you’ve got that by now.

My job

I’ve been working part-time in a local restaurant for about nine months. I mostly cook and do prep work (you wouldn’t believe how many pounds of meats and vegetables a restaurant goes through in a single day!) and do the necessary cleaning. It’s definitely not something I’m planning on doing for the rest of my life, but for now, it helps pay the bills and provides a little ‘cushion’ for us. My husband, on the other hand, is the lead breadwinner of the family. He’s the assistant manager at a nearby rent-to-own company and continues to work his way up the corporate ladder. I am so proud of him and of what he’s accomplished.
