Derogatory bathroom confessions

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been in quite a few public bathrooms in my day. I can’t think of a single one I’ve ever been in that didn’t have some kind of graffiti scribbled or scratched on the bathroom walls (especially in middle school and high school). Usually, it’s just simple things that people feel like proclaiming to the world…or, at least the next person in the building that gets a sudden case of diarrhea. Either way, these bathroom confessions are usually harmless in nature, written by people who’d like to leave their mark somewhere.
I had the unfortunate responsibility today of cleaning the bathrooms in the restaurant where I work. Granted, this dirty, disgusting, disease-ridden task is usually left for the waitress at the end of the day. BUT, since I’m the lowest stone in the totem pole right now, the others like to leave the most undesirable jobs for me. Whatever - that, my friends, is a story for another day.
Getting to my point…after I bitched and moaned for a few minutes, I strapped on the paper thin sanitary gloves, and got out the disinfectant cleaner, ready to get the shitty (pun intended) job over with, so I could go home. I did the women’s bathroom first, knowing it would be the cleanest. Then, I started on the men’s…
On top of being completely vile and disgusting, with puddled liquid on the floor (I can only hope it was water), used toilet paper in the puddled liquid on the floor, and an overflowing trashcan, my only thoughts were on getting the hell out of there, praying the whole time that I wouldn’t contract an infectious strain of staphylococcus or something. While I was hastily finishing up, I just happened to look over to the wall opposite the toilet, and noticed small scribbled writing. Curiosity got the best of me, and despite the nastiness, I had to go over and see what was written. Thinking that it was just going to be ‘Janet loves Bill’, ‘Karen wuz here’, or maybe ‘Sharon is a dirty whore’, what I read instead, was very shocking. Here are a few of the dirty bathroom confessions that I remember:
WARNING: I’ve cleaned them up. They’re very offensive.
I hate n****rs

^back at you, spic

^ Prejudice rednecks need to be shot!

^ You all need to find Jesus. He loves us all.
I’ve never seen such a conversation being carried out on a public bathroom wall - this was my first. I guess when you’re hiding behind a wall of anonymity, it’s easier to get away with saying what you think, despite how hurtful or offensive those thoughts may be. No one will ever know who wrote what, but this is a classic example of todays society in a nutshell, in my opinion. Person A is racist against person B, and vice versa. There’s the person that thinks both person A and B should be shot for not liking each other, and then there’s the person that wants everyone to find Jesus, in hopes of getting rid of prejudice/racism for good, and keeping the peace. In the end, no one ever, or will ever, win. People will harbor bad feelings toward other people until kingdom come, and I guess I shouldn’t have been so surprised. Thank God for Sharpies and bathroom walls, or else one MORE person could be going apeshit out there somewhere.
