Trying to pick a good movie is hard

Josh and I will be celebrating our fourth wedding anniversary next week (luv - we has it), and just like previous years, we’d like to go out to dinner and a movie. I know it’s pretty lame and played-out for most couples, but it’s actually one of our favorite things to do together. So far, we’ve decided to go to a Japanese restaurant to have dinner. I’ve NEVER eaten Japanese food, so I’m very excited about it. Can you believe a Japanese restaurant being smack dab in the middle of rural Kentucky? It will definitely be a new experience.

As for the movie…we’re having trouble deciding. I checked the local listings a few minutes ago and there really isn’t anything playing that I’m just *dying* to see. Let’s take a look.

  • Definitely, maybe - I’ve seen the previews, and it looks like a movie I’d probably enjoy - because I’m about as emotional and sensitive as it gets. Sappy movies like this though, really aren’t Josh’s cup of tea, and spending $7.25 on a ticket for it isn’t quite my cup of tea, either. I’ll wait for it to come on pay per view. Next.
  • Jumper - Again, seen the previews, looks exciting. We may come back to this one.
  • Step Up 2: The Streets - Um, no.
  • The Spiderwick Chronicles - Meh. Moving on.
  • 27 Dresses - I’ve only seen previews for this once, and I don’t really remember what the storyline is supposed to be about. Other than a woman being a bridesmaid 27 times and wanting to have angry sex with random strangers, in turn making her happy…or something. (???) Next.
  • Fool’s Gold - Seems cheesy, but it might be worth seeing.
  • Meet the Spartans - Nope. Saw Date Movie and Epic Movie or whatever the hell it was called, and they both sucked ass.
  • Rambo - Definitely not. Sylvester Stallone is pretty old and should have left ‘Rambo’ (not to mention ‘Rocky’) back in decades past. Played out.
  • The Bucket List - Believe it or not, I actually want to see this movie. We may have a green light on this one.
  • The Eye - This movie has really been talked up, but I’m not sure if it’s worth seeing. I read somewhere that it’s a remake of a similar Asian film? Don’t quote me on that, but if so, then I’m sure it won’t be scary or suspenseful at all - as we’ve seen with ‘the Grudge’.
  • Untraceable - This movie looks awesome, even though I’m not really into thrillers like this. I read on the internet database that there’s a lot of gore and torture in it though, much like Hostel and the Saw movies, but less intense. I’m totally not into that aspect of it. Not sure about this one.
  • Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins - Nah. I like Martin Lawrence as an actor, but this story has been told time and time again. A man goes back to his childhood town to see his old friends and family, has some kind of barbeque in the backyard with said family and friends, something dramatic happens that upsets everyone, the man re-unites with a woman he knew/liked/dated/stalked/had sex with from years before and falls in love, fixes all the problems, and voila. The movie’s over, everything is cool.

So yeah, as you can see the selection isn’t the greatest, but I’m determined to pick one in time for our anniversary! Even if it sucks, we’re still seeing a movie!

What movie(s) are you just itching (or not itching) to see?
