It’s been a few days since I’ve blogged. Our computer mouse finally died yesterday morning. I don’t know what happened, I was surfing the web when it just stopped working. I changed the batteries (it’s a wireless optical), but to no avail. Finally, the red light dimmed, then faded out completely. I checked for a pulse, but it was too late. :P We had it for eight months - in which time it was a good little piece of hardware. I grieved, and then a quick trip to Circuit City made everything better. You don’t have to say it, I know I’m a geek.
I finally broke down today and had Dylan try on some of his old outfits from last fall/winter. As expected, hardly anything fits - except for a couple of pairs of jeans and a few shirts. So, next week sometime I’ll have to buy him some new outfits. Pants, shirts, socks, shoes, a winter hat, gloves and jacket…the whole nine yards. It’s amazing to me how quickly children grow, and the clothes they can go through in a year - or even six months for that matter. That’s why I kinda have to laugh at those parents who insist on buying their babies/toddlers expensive, designer clothing. We all want the best for our children - I get that. But it seems silly to me to shell out the dough for a designer name when you know it’s going to go through hell in the small amount of time the kid is able to fit into it. All the poop, pee, vomit, food, dirt, and countless other substances kinda ruins that $50 pair of pants, doesn’t it? I say, let them wear the cheap (but still good quality!) stuff now, while they’re young, and save your money for when they’re teenagers - when the designer name really matters to them! :P But that’s just my opinion. Just because something is expensive doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best.
I was in the mood to try a new recipe today, so I looked up my recipe for fresh tomato
salsa (pictured right). You can check out my Flickr for more pictures, but I can go ahead and tell you that it is friggin’ delicious. Very spicy. They serve something similar to this at our favorite Mexican restaurant, but I’ve never thought to ask them how it’s made. I love spicy food, in case you haven’t figured it out yet. :P To go with this, I also made some guacamole, which is also good - and good for you, I hear. It’s always good to incorporate more fruits & vegetables in your diet, especially since Josh and I are on a new weight loss venture. More on that later.
As I’m sitting here typing this, I just happened to look over and notice that my pretty little pink iPod is over here collecting dust. I haven’t thought a song worthy enough to put on it in months. :P So, what I need from you, dear readers, are some kick ass song suggestions! What songs do you rock out to most often? I listen to a little bit of everything, so any and all suggestions will be considered! :D Who are your favorite artists/bands? What are your favorite genres? Let me know!
Anyhoo, enough of this inane rambling. I’m off to eat dinner and watch some Lifetime…or maybe COURTtv.

Almost nine whole days without blogging?! That’s so unlike me! *slap*
Well, I’ve been one busy girl lately. It seems like I haven’t had hardly any time to turn around due to my work schedule. It’s been going really good, but I’ve really been needing some ‘me’ time for a while. We have a family day planned today, and I have tomorrow off as well, but I’m going to be working practically the whole weekend.
I enjoy it, but I had no idea how easily it is to get injured whilst in a kitchen. Sure, there’s always the chance of getting cut and burned in the middle of getting bum rushed by customers, but one would think those chances wouldn’t be as high when you’re really not doing anything in a hurry at all. Over this past week my hands and fingers have really gotten a beating. While cleaning out an oven the other day, I nicked the very tip of the ring finger on my right hand, and it hurtssssssssss like hell. I didn’t even realize it at the time, but the next day it was so painful. To top it all of, yesterday I was cooking a cheeseburger on the flat grill and accidentally touched the very tip of the index finger on my left hand to the grill. I had no idea that such a tiny burn could send excruciating chills up and down the body, and pretty much render the finger useless for the rest of the day. It was awful. :( It’s easy to take advantage of all the things you do with your hands every day of your life, but as soon as something happens to your arm, hand, or even the tiniest nicks and burns on your fingers you really start to notice how much you really need them! I’ll have to be more careful next time, but it’s a necessary evil when you work in a kitchen - burns and other injuries are pretty much inevitable.
As mentioned earlier, we have a family day planned today - meaning we aren’t going to do shit besides go out and have fun - just the three of us. The plans originally consisted of going out to dinner and then catching a family friendly movie later on tonight, but after checking what’s playing a few minutes ago I found that the movie we reeeeeeeally want to see (Surf’s Up) is no longer playing. :( Pfft! There’s really nothing else playing that we want to see, so I don’t know what we’ll end up doing.
Speaking of movies, am I the only one not even remotely excited about Harry Potter 5? The media is making such a huge deal about the ‘newest installment’ of both the book AND the movie, and frankly I couldn’t care less. In fact, I’m tired of hearing about it every time I turn around. I get that people really like the books and movies and stuff, but come on. Is it really necessary to advertise it 24/7 on every channel and website known to man? Like it needs advertising? After the release of the first 3 or 4 movies, it only makes sense that people will flock to their nearest movie theater to see the next one…and the next one…and even the next one. Not a whole lot of advertising is necessary, and it would keep people like me from being pushed even further away from picking up a Harry Potter book or DVD. *sigh*
Last night while watching Kipper with Dylan on PBS Sprout, I noticed something a little disturbing (and admittedly hilarious!) about this particular episode. And, using the magic of our DVR, I snapped some pictures of the perpetrators in action:

Now, if that doesn’t look perverted, I don’t know what does! Usually, I’m not one to notice things like this, but we (Josh and I) couldn’t help but notice that and the way it looks. Of course, I don’t actually think that it was intended or anything, but it’s funny anyway.
